December is the time when we see the festive decoration all around us. Christmas brings in the joy and happiness to celebrate this festival with family and friends. Children’s eagerly wait for Santa, chocolates, cakes, new clothes, and party. Christmas celebration means the day of Jesus birth, where every corner of the house is decorated with the Jesus Christ’s hut, Mother Marry, grass, and shepherds. People decorate their house and workplace, with colorful Christmas lights, candles, wreath, and Christmas tree.

A Christmas tree is an evergreen tree, usually fir or pine tree, or similar looking artificial tree, which is decorated with ornaments, lights, tinsels, and ribbons. These trees are decorated indoor as well as outdoors. Families even arrange gifts around their indoor Christmas tree and wait for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to open up their presents.

The first Christmas trees were ornamented with apples, candies, pastries in shapes of heart, stars, and flowers. But nowadays, ornaments made of glass, metal, wood, or ceramics are used to decorate a Christmas tree. Kids even make beautiful ornaments and hang them on the tree. Glass baubles and garlands of glass beads were first made in Lauscha, Germany. After decorating the tree with all the beautiful ornaments, the tree is topped with a shining star.

Initially, people used branches of these trees to decorate their houses during winter. And this made them think about the spring to come after the cool winter months. The evergreen trees were used by Romans to decorate the temples at the festival of Saturnalia. These trees were believed to be an ancient symbol of life.

Christmas is the time when we spend some quality time with our loved ones. It’s a time to cherish the wonderful memories that last forever. Every family has their own traditions and customs. Some arrange for special meals when families meet over a get together with special holiday foods made with all the love. Many families give food and gifts to homeless and shelter homes. Families attend masses at church during Christmas where Christmas songs are sung, and readings related to the story of the birth of Jesus are read. Kids write a letter to Mr. Santa Clause and hope to receive lots of presents for being a little naughty and nice.

But one thing that is common between all the families is they are with their family and friends. Christmas brings in the faith to enlighten your soul. It brings a new smile that teaches us to share and care. It helps us appreciate all the love in our lives. It brings us joy and happiness all year round.
