The country is mourning today the loss of a legendary Bollywood actress ‘Sridevi’. The first female superstar of Bollywood was just 54 years and suffered a major cardiac arrest on Saturday night in Dubai where she was attending nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor. Not just the film fraternity, but the whole country is saddened on hearing the untimely demise of the glamourous diva. Fans and all the admirers took to social media to offer their condolences to her family.
Sridevi born on August 13, 1963 started her acting career since the age of four. She performed as a child artist in Tamil, Hindi, Malyalam, Telugu, and Kannada movies. Later at the age of 13, she played her first adult role in the Tamil film Moondru Mudichu in the year 1976. And then later she was recognized as one of the leading actresses of Tamil and Telugu movies. Then in 1983, she attained more popularity from the movie ‘Himmatwala’ starring Jeetendra. And after that she performed in number of blockbusters starring opposite many famous actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, Anil Kapoor, Kamal Haasan, Rishi Kapoor, and Sunny Deol. She acted in 300 films and was one of highest paid actors in 1990. Her dancing skills and her comic abilities have won million hearts throughout the nation. She was a gem who was so graceful and natural in her acting. She has given outstanding performance in many of the Bollywood movies.
Sadma is an Indian drama directed by Balu Mahendra starring Kamal Haasan and Sridevi. Sridevi played the character of Nehalata – a girl who loses her memory after getting a head injury and results in retrograde amnesia which makes her behave like an 8 year old. Chandani is a romantic drama directed by Yash Chopra. Rohit(Rishi Kapoor) and Chandani were truly in love with each other and they were about to get married but fate had something else written from them. Khuda Gawah is an action romantic film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi in lead roles. Badshah Khan falls in love with Benezir who is of the rival clan and would do anything to marry her. Mom directed by Ravi Udyawar is an Indian thriller film starring Sridevi as an avenger who can do anything for the sake of her children. The character played by Sridevi was of a quite strong and powerful woman who has the capability to fight with world to get justice for her daughter.
