Yoga also refers to as inner science of variety of methods through which human beings can achieve mastery over their dynasty. It’s practice leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of universal consciousness, indicating the perfect harmony between mind and body, Man and Nature.
Yoga being widely practiced from our ancestors period around 2700B.C. during Indus Saraswati Valley Civilisation. Rigveda contains description of many methods of practicing yoga by great Yogi’s and Muni. We had seen in our myth’s history about yoga.
But the first practioner is none other than our lord Shiva. Shiva was always found sitting with meditation. Shiva is seen as the first yogi or Adi yogi and the first Guru or Adi guru in the yogic lore. Thousands of years ago, on the banks of the lake ‘Kantisarovar’ in the Himalayas, Adi Yogi Poured his profound knowledge into the legendary Saptarishis or “ Seven Sages”.
That was the time when everyone were in touch of yoga and meditation. We had found that all Muni’s like Rishi Kashyap, Rishi Valmiki, Rishi Drona, Rishi Bhrugu, Rishi Vishwamitra, Rishi Parshuram, Ravan, Kumbhkaran, Vedamvyas and many- many more from different era’s are described in our Vedas, holy Upanishads, Ramayana and Mahabharata’s sitting in “Dhyan” that is meditation a part of Yoga and impress God to achieve their wishes and many to get “Moksha” the freedom. They were doing vedic yoga’s that is meditation with “Mantra’s.
