6 Natural Remedies to Get Rid of Dark Circles

Dark Circles are the blemishes around the eyes which are visible due to the blood vessels under the thin layer of the skin around the eyes. Men, women, and even kids these days get dark circles under their eyes. These dark circles can make you look older than you actually are, and even make you look tired, ill, or exhausted. Discoloration of skin under the eyes can be caused due to a number of factors.

Here are some of the easiest home remedies to treat dark circles.


Tomato has a natural bleaching agent that helps to reduce the dark circles and lightens the skin tone. Drinking fresh tomato juice as well as applying it onto the skin gives you the best results.
Mix one teaspoon of tomato juice with one teaspoon of lemon juice and apply this mixture under your eyes with the help of a cotton ball. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, and then gently wash it with cold water or coconut water. Follow this treatment twice a day for few weeks and see the change. You can also omit lemon juice, and just use tomato juice.
Other way to use tomato juice is to apply the juice under your eyes and gently massage it around the eyes for 10-15 mins in a circular motion, and then wash it with water.


Raw potato juice cleans up the skin and lightens the skin tone and reduces the puffiness around the eyes.
Grate or grind 1-2 potatoes and extract the juice. Take 2 cotton balls and soak it in the juice, place the soaked cotton balls on your eyes, covering your dark circles under your eyes. Let it remain for 10-15 minutes and then wash your eyes with cold water. Instead of potato juice, you can also use potato slices to remove dark circles and keep your eyes cool. Repeat this daily for few weeks.


Cucumbers have been used to reduce the puffiness around the eyes and lighten the skin tone under the eyes. They even give you refreshing and cooling effect onto your tired eyes.
Take a fresh cucumber and put in the refrigerator for couple of hours to chill. Then cut the cucumber into thick slices and put the slices onto your eyes covering your dark circles. Let it sit for 10 minutes before washing it off with water. Repeat this twice daily for few weeks and see reduced dark circles and get rid of those tired eyes. You can also use cucumber juice and apply with cotton ball instead of cucumber slices.

Cold Milk and Rose Water:

Cold milk when mixed with rose water reduces the puffiness around the eyes and rejuvenates the skin. It lightens the dark shadows under the eyes. Both these ingredients works well as a good skin toner, making skin soft and supple.

Simply mix two tablespoons cold milk with 1 tablespoon of rose water. Soak the cotton balls for few minutes in this mixture. Place the soaked cotton balls onto your closed eyes and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash off gently with cold water. Repeat this remedy twice daily until the dark circles lessen.

Almond Oil:

Almond oil has Vitamin E which helps the skin to lighten the dark circles under the eyes, making the skin look clean and fresh. To get the maximum benefit, do this treatment before going to sleep at night so that the Vitamin E can work overnight on your skin.
Apply few drops of almond oil around your eyes, and gently massage it onto the skin. Leave it overnight and wash it the next morning. Repeat it every night for few weeks until the dark circles disappear.

Tea Bag:

Green tea bag or chamomile tea bags have proven to lighten the skin under the eyes. Cold tea bags will reduce the tiredness and puffiness around the eyes and light the pigmentation of skin under the eyes, and rejuvenate your eyes.

Simply place cold tea bags on your closed eyes, and let it remain for 10-15 minutes. Repeat it daily for few weeks. You can always refrigerate the tea bags overnight, so that they’ll be ready for the next day.

These natural ingredients will definitely lighten the area around your eyes, and slowly you can get rid of dark circles, but remember to take care of other factors that causes dark circles. Follow these remedies regularly for few weeks and to reduce the dark circles and get fresh and revitalizing eyes.
