The term Bandhani is derived from the sanskrit word banda (‘to tie’). Bandhani comesdates back to Indus civilisation. Bandhani dots are seen in 6th century paintings made on the life of Buddha, found in the cave 1 of Ajanta.
Bandhani Saree is classic style of Rajasthan and Gujarat. It is also found in Sindh, Punjab and Tamil Nadu. Bandhani is also known as Bandhej, Piliya, and chungidi in Tamil Nadu. Bandhani is a type of tie-dye textile decorated by plucking the cloth with finger nails into many tiny bindings that form a figurative design. As the cloth is tightly tied with a thread in different place and deeped into color dye, the tied portion remains uncolored and the open portion is gets colored. Then the uncolored part is then again colored with the same method. And this technique is very famous in Rajasthan specially in Jaipur. In Jaipur, block printed saree are also made.

Kanjeevaram Silk
Kanjeevaram Indian saree is one of the finest and most popular forms of silk in Tamilnadu. It uses a combination of colored threads and also has lot of zari work.
