Miss India Manushi Chhillar wins the Miss World 2017 Pageant

After 17 long years, once again India is a proud country to bring back the Miss World Crown. Miss India Manushi Chhillar has won the pageant of Miss World 2017 at the 67th Miss World Competition in Sanya, China. She is the sixth Indian woman to win the title. Reita Faria was the first Indian woman who won this title back in 1966, followed by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 1994, Diana Haydon in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999, and the Quantico starrer Priyanka Chopra who won in 2000.

Twenty years old Manushi Chhillar is from Haryana and was born to a family of doctors. She is an Indian Medical Student and dreams of becoming a Cardiac Surgeon. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer and enjoys painting. She has also attended “The National School of Drama. Manushi has a passion for outdoor sports like scuba diving and bungee jumping.

Manushi was also a co-winner of the Beauty with a Purpose Competition. Her Beauty with a Purpose project named “Project Shakti” was initiated to spread the awareness about the hygiene during menstruation. She has changed the lives of 5000 women by visiting more than 20 villages, which proves her kindness and compassion. She is actively working for women’s safety and empowerment. Manushi hopes to open Non-profit hospitals in rural areas and help the needed.

Around 126 women from all around the world participated in this Beauty Pageant that was held in Sanya, China. And from all of them, only one has won the title of Miss World, and that is Manushi Chhillar. Manushi was looking gorgeous dressed in a beautiful and elegant soft pink beaded gown designed by Falguni and Shane Peacock. With all that hard work, confidence, intellect and the smile, she carried on her face, made her win the beautiful blue crystal studded Miss World crown. Miss England Stephanie Hill became the first runner-up and Miss Mexico Alma Andrea Meza Carmona was the second runner-up.

Manushi’s twitter was flooded with wishes after hearing the great news from around the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal, and even actress Priyanka Chopra congratulated her for winning the crown.

After hoarding in top 5 contestants, during the question and answer round, Manushi was asked, “Which profession deserves the highest salary and why?” And to this, she replied very confidently, “Since I am very close to my mother I think a mother deserves the highest respect and when you talk about salary I don’t think it’s just about cash, but I feel it’s the love and respect you give to someone. And I think my mom has always been the biggest inspiration in my life and all mothers they just sacrifice so much for their kids. So, the profession which deserves the highest salary, the highest respect and love should be a mother.”

Very well said Manushi, indeed the job of a mother is no easy task. Mothers are always an inspiration to their kids. They are the ones who give them the strength and encourage them to fulfill their dreams. A mother’s love is unconditional. Manushi is not just beautiful, but she is smart and intelligent too. She has gracefully carried her Indian values and principles outside her country and made India a very proud nation.
