Nausea and vomiting – A Starting Symptom in Pregnancy

The feeling of carrying a little soul within you is magnificent and this is a beautiful stage of the life. Lots of desires and happiness comes across in the mind. But in such a beautiful time period Women’s had to face many hormonal changes which vary from month to month.
Nausea and vomiting is one of the common problems faced by almost 70% of the women in pregnancy. This is the early symptom of pregnancy which is common throughout the first trimester, and sometimes even longer.



In medical terms it is believed that it is somewhere linked with Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) hormone. This is commonly referred to as pregnancy hormone. Some of the other causes for nausea are estrogen that is another hormone that rises during early pregnancy and could contribute to queasiness. Stress or fatigue causes a physical reaction within the body can cause nausea and vomiting. And the other cause may be due to sensitive stomach.


  • This symptom varies in every woman
  • Some have only morning sickness, as they arise from bed they feel vomiting.
  • Some may get sick with an odour; women sometimes even can’t bear smell in kitchen while cooking.
  • Some get sick to bard, as she sits on breakfast table or for lunch or dinner she start feeling queasy and vomiting.

To get relief from queasiness and vomiting, following are the tips useful to every woman:


Herbal Tea

This is one of the better options to cure morning sickness. When one feels like vomiting she can have a cup of herbal tea. Herbal teas made from ginger, lemon and mint are known to reduce nausea. Use 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried herb per cup of water. Avoid peppermint tea if you have heartburn.

Vitamin B intake

In studies it has been searched that Women’s taking vitamin B6 of 25mg three times a day, for three days reduced nausea and vomiting. This is taken with your other vitamins with the consult of doctor.

Fluid intake

More fluid intake is necessary. Women who drink a glass of water in every one hour have a less complain of morning sickness. Try different juices which help to replace sugar and salt level in your body which are loss in vomiting. That can help you to gain your energy level.


Have a slice of lemon with some salt on it that may easily cure from nausea and vomiting. You can also try lemon based drink to feel cool in this symptom.

Small Meals

Women feel more queasy and vomiting with her empty stomach. Have a habit to take a small meal. Small amount of bard are much easier to tolerate. Fruits, nuts or one or two slices of cheese are good choices to have. Keep some crackers by your bed and have a few as soon as you wake up.


Ginger is one of the oldest remedy to settle queasiness. Ginger tea, ginger cookies or ginger candies can help in queasiness. Dried and salted ginger pieces can also be a helpful remedy to cure Nausea and vomiting.

Proper Rest

As a woman undergoes many hormonal changes she is in need of proper rest and care. Work stress also can cause nausea. Have a sleep with nausea which can handle stress, anxiety and muscle strain.

Avoid strong odors

Strong odors and smoke is also a trigger to nausea or vomiting. To avoid this open window and live in a fresh air is advisable.

NOTE:Many women’s faces this problem on a high level so in that case better to consult a doctor. Or doctor prescribed medicine may be taken. Generally, you should not use over-the-counter remedies for sickness and vomiting whilst you are pregnant. This is because their safety and effectiveness for sickness and vomiting in pregnancy.
